Amazon isn’t forced to turn a profit. Their whole business model is basically founded upon investors propping up the enterprise while the beast gains market share. The only possible goal of that could be complete domination. … And then I’m guessing prices wouldn’t be so cheap.
Homogenization in any industry is a bad thing. In the book business it’s even worse, because books aren’t just a commodity, they’re a cultural underpinning.
